Transportation of the equipment for chemical industry into Turkey (railway station Mersin)
In January 2006 the enterprise
Yugintertrans had arranged the transportation of the 8 carriages of equipment
which was
oversized cargo for Bulgarian and Turkish railways. The route of these cargoes envisaged the transportation
of the Ukrainian carriages through the railway ferryboat Illichevs'k-Varna (Bulgaria). Then, after the replacement
of wheel bogies of the Ukrainian carriages and installation of the wheel bogie for 1435 mm track, the carriages
with the equipment went in transit through Bulgaria into Turkey. Railway terminal in Turkey which is capable to accept
Ukrainian carriages is located in European part of Turkey, 100 km far from Istanbul. It allows to transship the cargo
from the Ukrainian carriages onto the carriages of Turkish railway (TCDD). Then the cargo went 1200 km along the Turkish territory
up to the railway station Mersin. This arrangement allowed to transport in direct railway communication from Ukraine
to the destination place in Turkey. In accordance with rules adopted in (SMGS) "agreement on international
railway communications" and (CIM) "international convention on cargo railway transportations"
the transportation was agreed with relevant railways (Bulgaria, Turkey). The steps were developed and taken
in order to co-ordinate the conditions and the technique of cargo loading onto the Turkish rolling stock and its transportation along the agreed route.
